Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born in 1919. When Jackie was growing up his family was the only black household on the block and it was the age of the discrimination. In order to get away from all this the Robinson family moved to California and Jackie joined UCLA. At UCLA Jackie seemed to have a thing for sports. He was well known for his prowess in football, baseball, basketball and the track. He went on to become an officer in World War II. Jackie Robinson was a born athlete and he soon was at the brink of which sport to pick as a career. The decision he took at this stage made him the first black Major Leaguer in sixty years. Jackie Robinson went on to become one of the best baseball players of all time. "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." A quote Jackie said that just shows how much of an impact the people had on his life. I feel that Jackie was a great person and a great baseball player and i feel bad about all the things that hppened to him. Being the first black baseball player can't be easy and as you could see it wasn't for him.

African American Family who struggled during the Great Depression.
This picture is of an African American family during the Great Depression. This picture shows how hard it was during that time for families to survive. This particular family was very poor.As you can see, this family is very poor. They can barely put clothes on their backs so I can imagine it is hard for them to put food on the table.None of them are wearing shoes, they are all very dirty and they are wearing very ragged and ripped clothes. This time was very hard for all families in America when the stock market crashed and families lost fortunes.

One of the first questions that were asked is where are you from?Sherman responded that he was born in Germany and moved here when he was young. This was very common because the many immigrants were coming to America for many opportunities. The interviewer asked questions like what did you do when you got to America and what was it like for Sherman. He told stories and said, “I would go out and pick up at least 25 quail a day that died because they flew into a telegraph wires. He also said to the interviewer how when he was young “I saw Indians for the first time and got really scared but I was very young.” He also stated “I lived in a very small home with my mother and father and had to walk a mile to get to school everyday.”I think that the interviewer asked very good questions.Sherman told about his hard childhood and all the downs in his like as a kid. Also, the interviewer asked about work and Sheldon told about how he followed his father’s foot steps in the blacksmithing business. He said how he had to tie a burlap sack on his feet to keep from the fiery embers. That shows how poor his family was and how much he had to work. This interview told me a lot about the times back then ar

This photo is a good example of the great depression because it shows you just how many people were out of jobs. The photo shows a building that says free coffee and doughnuts for the unemployed and a massive line that literally stretches off the picture.
